At Santuario de Chimayo you find two chapels of historical significance. The first is the Lord of Esquipulas Chapel. This chapel is also the site of el pocito, the small pit of Holy Dirt. Separate from the Esquipulas Chapel but within easy walking distance is the Santo Niño de Atocha Chapel. Built in the year 1857 is the destination of what is a strong and growing Easter pilgrimage tradition that now spans several generations. The Easter pilgrimage, began by the U.S. soldiers and sailors who prayed to the Santo Niño during the Bataan Death March. Upon their return to the United States, began the pilgrimage to Chimayo, to give thanks for their deliverance.

En el Santuario de Chimayo se encuentran dos capillas de importancia histórica. La primera es la capilla del Señor de Esquipulas. Esta capilla alberga el Pocito, el pequeño pozo de tierra bendita. A poca distancia está la Capilla del Santo Niño de Atocha. Construida en 1857, es el destino de una creciente peregrinación durante el tiempo de Pascua que abarca ya a varias generaciones. La peregrinación de Pascua comenzó con los soldados de los Estados Unidos que rezaron al Santo Niño durante la Marcha de la Muerte de Bataan. A su regreso a los Estados Unidos, peregrinaron al Santuario de Chimayo para dar gracias por su liberación.
